Wishing you all a happy and healthy Spring! Whew we did it; we are on the other side of winter. It actually was not so bad; we all just need a little more sunshine now.

The change of seasons brings us, blooms, buds and the sniffies for many. If you start preparing now, you can have a much easier time of the pollen and allergy season.

An allergy is an overreaction of the Immune system to a substance that is harmless to most people.

The Immune system is a one way valve that needs body movement to keep it flowing. Since many of us have been more home bound during the winter, we are already set up for a sluggish response to the upcoming pollen season.

 Get Your Nosey Clean!

Nasal saline irrigation has been shown to be a beneficial therapy in the treatment and prevention of sinus infections and allergic rhinitis. This non-pharmacologic therapy involves rinsing the nasal passages with a salt-water solution, helping to rid the nose of allergens and mucus. This may reduce the need for antibiotics in those people prone to sinus infections.

Saline irrigation may need to be performed on a daily (or multiple times per day) basis for people with severe symptoms, or less often as symptoms improve.

NYS Speakers Group – Learn How to Be A Better Speaker

The New York State NSA group has developed a learning opportunity open to everyone who joins.

A few times a day, listen quietly for the voice in your head, the stream of continuous self-talk. Then ponder the following questions. Just be with the questions. Don't necessarily try to answer them.

                          Am I the thoughts that are going through my head?

                               Or, am I the one who is aware that these thoughts are going through my head?

Pay attention to the gap between your thoughts—when one thought subsides and before another arises. In this way, you draw consciousness away from mind activity and create a gap of no-mind in which you are highly alert and aware but not thinking. When these gaps occur, you disidentify from your mind and feel a certain stillness and peace inside you.

This is the essence of meditation and the single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment.
