Cornsilk has mainly been used for urogenital infections. Over the centuries it has been used for kidney problems, for acute and chronically inflamed bladders and the prostate gland. Cornsilk helps with urine retention, catarrh of the bladder, gonorrhea and in controlling inflammation and pain. It is a mild diuretic and has been used for cystitus. It is also useful in treating inflammatory conditions of the uretha, bladder, and kidney.
